HP2: The Human Potential Project

HP2's HISTORY

HP2 has deep roots in the world of high performance. We began in the early 80's by working exclusively with world-class athletes. Our early mission focused on identifying, isolating, and reproducing the elements that led to consistent winning performance. What made our early work successful was our ability to bring modern technology to the ancient Greek model of Mind-Body-Spirit. We were particularly interested in the ability of the mind to influence physical performance. From working with athletes, we learned the value of developing the embodied practices that generate performance. HP2's work with individuals and teams was powerful and caught the attention of the US military.

Working with the US Army, Army Special Forces, the Navy SEALS, and Marines we designed new ways to train our military personnel. Utilizing the lessons we had learned with athletes and adding our own new developments, we delivered and documented dramatic improvements in both individual and unit performance. Our engagements with the military enabled us to deepen our expertise with teams, effective processes, and practices. See our Case Studies for just one example of this work.

In the late 80's we set our sights on the game of business. To us, this was a more challenging game and unlike the world of sports or the military. In the game of business there are no time-outs, no off-season, and no stand-downs. HP2 took insights gleaned from developing athletic performance and military skills and coupled them with developments in learning theory, whole systems dynamics, linguistics, and promise-based management to form a uniquely effective body of corporate work. Our unique foundation taught us the critical importance of developing core values, ingrained practices, effective processes, and a positive and productive work environment. We began applying this distinctive approach in the corporate world. For over two decades, HP2 has driven and managed change, produced new leadership and management competence, and driven dramatic performance improvements in all sizes of organizations, both domestic and global. We continue to lead the way in developing new practices that are relevant to, and effective in, today's world.
